of is Santo Domingo de
Guzman, with a population of more than 2 million, intense nightlife and
great historic riches. As of July, 2005 The Population in the whole country was of 8,950,034. It shares the island with Haiti on the west side. Climate: Tropical, with temperatures oscillating between 73 in the mornings and 90 in the afternoon and night. The Area is 48,442 Km2 with a Coastline of over 1,000 miles. The Dominican Peso is the Official Currency of the country. The country declared its Independence from the dominion of Haiti on February 27th, 1844. The Government is a Representative Democracy. The Official Language is Spanish.  The Official Religion
is Roman Catholic but free cult is
respected and there are other like Protestant, Seventh Day Adventist,
Baptist and Mormon.The tourism experience and increase of 16% in 2006. That year 4.4 million guests chose it as their top vacation destination. For two years in a row, one million U.S. visitors spent their vacation here. That is why this Gorgeous island was named “Caribbean’s #1 Destination” in 2006 by the World Tourism Organization, title that was owned by Puerto Rico for the last forty years.
